about

From 2001-2002, I worked for a former audio engineer as an administrative assistant, which basically means I returned his calls, made spreadsheets, and helped him write emails. One thanksgiving break, I asked if he'd want to go into one of the studios of the school where we worked (which would be dormant over the holidays), and record one of my songs. He was game; however, I wasn't sure what song to use - I didn't have anything particularly new that I was excited about. So I wrote a new song about three days before, and we went into the studio in mid-afternoon, and spent about 10 hours tracking everything you hear on this song. I particularly cringe at one of the couplets, and another is among my favorite things I've ever written.

lyrics

I saw something by the window
I see something by the door
Are you losing - have you lost it?
Or are you coming back for more?

Even faster, even hotter, than what you left for me to find
Dirty footsteps on my pillow
Broken hearts are on my mind

And you know all I ask of you is this
And you know standing silently is easy to resist

Empty pages speaking volumes
Treasures left for me to find
And open windows mean nothing unless you slip inside

I'm not one for lighting candles
I'm not one for telling truths
But every breath is soft beside me and picking up steam. I'm picking up steam

And you know all I ask of you is this
And you know standing silently is easy to resist

about

limesix Orlando

Limesix is a rock band, in the 90s tradition. They maybe sound a bit like Portastatic, Yo La Tengo, and Say Hi, hopefully with some sly nods to Prince.
